Is BreedTools really free?
Yes — the free tier is permanent, not a trial. You get 10 dogs, 1 active litter, public profile pages, COI calculator, health record tracking, and CSV export. We don't ask for a credit card. You upgrade only when your kennel grows past those limits.
How is BreedTools different from typical breeder software?
Most breeder apps are either iOS-only mobile apps with limited features, or aging desktop software with no cloud sync. BreedTools is a modern PWA that works on every device, has a real free tier, includes a public stud marketplace with verified reviews, supports digital contracts with e-signature, tracks breed-specific growth curves for 289 breeds, and runs financial tracking with P&L per litter. It also tracks show titles and champion records — CH, GCH, NOHS and performance titles flow onto your pedigree and public pages — which typical breeder software ignores entirely. Plus we never sell your data and never show ads.
Can I import my data from another breeder app?
Yes. The Settings → Import page accepts a CSV from any breeder app, kennel software, or spreadsheet. We auto-detect columns for name, breed, sex, date of birth, color, registration number, microchip, role/status, and notes. If your current tool has an export-to-CSV option, you're good.
Will my data ever be sold or shared?
No. Read the privacy policy in full — it's short and direct. We never sell, never share with advertisers, never hand off to data brokers. Subscription is our only revenue model. Your records stay yours.
What if I want to leave BreedTools later?
You export everything to CSV any time, on any plan, for free. We don't hold your data hostage. Cancel your subscription, download your data, and you're done. No phone calls, no retention specialist, no "are you sure" loops.
Does BreedTools work on my iPhone? Android? Computer?
Yes to all three. BreedTools is a Progressive Web App — install it from Safari, Chrome, or any modern browser. The same account syncs across every device you use. Works offline for record-keeping when you're at the vet or in the whelping room.
Do I need a contract or commitment?
No. Subscriptions are month-to-month or yearly, cancel anytime from your account settings. No phone calls. No "minimum term."
What about ads or upsells inside the app?
There are none. BreedTools shows zero ads anywhere. Upgrade prompts only appear when you hit a free-plan limit (e.g., trying to add an 11th dog), and they're a single banner you can dismiss — never an interstitial or popup.
