A whelping app that’s with you in the box.
From the pre-labor temperature drop to every puppy’s first breath. Track the dam’s temp for an early labor warning, count down to whelp day, and log each birth on your phone — even offline in the barn.
Whelping log, temp tracking + the due-date calendar are free. Works offline.

Track the dam's temp for an early labor warning — two readings below baseline flag labor within 24 hours.
From the temp drop to day-two weights.
Know when labor is coming
Log the dam’s temperature twice a day and BreedTools watches her own baseline for the pre-labor drop — typically below ~99°F (37.2°C) about 24 hours out. It confirms across two readings before it alarms, so you get a real heads-up instead of a false 3am panic.
A countdown to whelp day
Enter the breeding date and the pregnancy calendar maps the whole gestation — fertile window, key milestones, and the 58–66 day whelp window — so you know exactly when to set up the whelping box.
Log the whelp as it happens
Record each puppy as it arrives: time born, birth weight, collar color, presentation, sac and placenta, and any complications or resuscitation. It works on your phone right in the whelping box — and offline if the signal drops out in the barn.
Straight into newborn care
Every puppy flows into daily weight tracking with breed-specific growth curves (289 breeds), an 18-stage milestone checklist, and dam postpartum care — so a slow-gaining pup gets caught on day two, not week two.
Whelping questions, answered.
Is there a free whelping app?
Yes. The whelping log, dam temperature tracking, the pregnancy/whelping calendar, and newborn weight tracking are all on the BreedTools free plan (10 dogs, 1 active litter, no credit card). It installs to your phone’s home screen as an app — no app store.
How does it predict labor?
You log the dam’s temperature, and BreedTools tracks it against her own baseline rather than a fixed number. The classic pre-labor sign is a temperature drop (often below ~99°F / 37.2°C) about 24 hours before whelping. BreedTools confirms the drop across two readings before alerting, which cuts down on false alarms from a single odd reading.
Can I use the whelping log offline?
Yes. BreedTools is a Progressive Web App that works offline — log birth times, weights, and notes in the whelping box even with no signal, and it syncs automatically when you reconnect.
Does it calculate the due date?
Yes. Enter the breeding date (or first and last tie for multi-day breedings) and the calendar maps the full gestation and the 58–66 day whelp window, counting down to whelp day.
What does it record during whelping?
Per puppy: time born, birth weight, sex, collar color, presentation, whether the sac and placenta passed, and any complications or interventions — a complete, timestamped whelping record you can reference or share with your vet.
BreedTools supports your whelping decisions but is not a substitute for veterinary care.
